As our lives get increasingly hectic, we often forget to have simple fun. But it is the simple joys that become our happiest memories. I don’t remember the day when my mom took me to a fancy shop to buy me some fantastic toy. What I do remember are the times we spent cheering for Pete Sampras on TV. I don’t remember the expensive restaurants and fabulous meals we went for. What I do remember is the pancakes she used to make at home. Isn’t it time we started pursuing those simple joys more actively?
I used to love baking with my mom. This recipe reminded me of those days in Africa when we used to bake cookies and cakes nearly every day. We didn’t have money to go to expensive restaurants or hotels but we definitely had simple fun. It’s that quotient that I hardly get to share with my son.
Very sweet and delicious post, melts the heart like butter.
Thanks, Swapna… I keep thinking that the only sad part about childhood is that it gets over… and while we can remain young at heart, we can never get back those moments spent with our mothers. Why didnt anyone tell us that those days would end and never come back?
