Childhood influences our beliefs to an extent that the lessons from this phase of our lives are carried on to adulthood and get reflected in our behavior throughout our lives. One of the major childhood influences comes from grandparents, at least on children who have grown up with them.
Childhood Influences through Grandparents
The bond between grandchildren and grandparents is a very special one, as both are in the stages where responsibilities are less. Grandparents have a very different way of teaching their grandchildren since there is a generation gap. They have rich experience which, because of the love they have for their grandchildren, is passed on to them.
Grandmother’s Love: Childhood Influences
I recently lost my grandmother and, often, when my mind goes blank, I realize that she taught me so many little things in her own special ways. Every time I would go to the local grocery store and buy chocolates, I would always be eager to finish them up and then go and boast about it to my friends in school the next day. But, every time my hands were full of those sweets, my grandmother would tell me to halve them and save one half for the future. The next time I had the treats, she would again tell me to halve them and save it.
Initially, I would question this for a very long while and cheated by not saving the sweets. However, today I realize that how the childhood lesson of saving for the future made me happy for a longer period. I bought chocolates, ate some of them instantly and saved some for the next day. This elongated the period of my enjoyment and I felt satisfied with what I had. My grandmother’s love and experience taught me how saving could make us feel more contented with life.
I would like you to share your viewpoint on what different role do grandfathers play in a grandughter’s life..
