Science and The Four Vedas

We are so keen to inform the world that ‘rituals are crap’ and we are modern, that we prefer not to be associated with Vedic philosophy. We do not realize that the four Vedas do not just constitute an enlightening spiritual treatise, but can also be practised for the welfare of human life.

While many religions claim to be supreme for the salvation of the human soul, the Vedic philosophy prospers because it emphasises on the freedom of the human soul to achieve mergence with the Supreme Consciousness in total harmony. Nowhere in this world, will you find such a truly spiritual and secular treatise that focuses on an individual’s wholesome development than in the four Vedas.

The Gifts of the Four Vedas

Often, educated Hindus rubbish the Vedic philosophy by citing science as their true religion. Several significant examples can be given to illustrate how the four Vedas aim to elevate the quality of man’s quest for knowledge and self awareness in every realm of life.

  • When illness struck, the Vedas gifted the world with the application of Ayurveda. This is known as the spiritual science of holistic healing as revealed by Lord Dhanwantari (a form of Lord Mahavishnu in the realm of healing energy) continues to flourish in every part of India.
  • In the Vedas itself, you can find the gems of architectural science enshrined in the Sthapathyveda and the science of administration as laid down in the Arthashastra.
  • The Atharva Veda contained in it the basic principles of atomic energy and nuclear fission.
  • The earliest hint of algebra and the decimal system was derived from the Shulba Sutras, which are a supplement of the Kalpasutras, a form of Vedic Mathematics.

Today, scientists acknowledge that it is the mind that needs healing than the body, recognizing it as the seat of worry, anxiety, desire, pain, suffering and knowledge. They predict that thoughts will become the leaders of the future and that every thought has the power to be manifested as tangible energy in this world. These truths were documented and validated in the Vedas thousands of years before scientists even inquired into its possibility and unravelled them. The four Vedas are known to hold the key to unlocking the human’s mind’s true potential by unlocking the power of pure consciousness at the highest level.
