People have always asked me if I’m Christian and I’ve said that if Christianity is about believing in Christ, yes, I am a true Christian. I believe in every word spoken by Jesus. I respect every teaching and cherish the message he left the world with.
If being Christian is about believing in the Church and all that it has misrepresented to the world about the word of Jesus Christ, then I am totally against Christianity.
Is Christmas Only about Giving and Receiving Gifts?
From childhood, Christmas has a very special place in life. My dad and I used to visit old age homes with beautifully wrapped gifts for the old and helpless. My most vivid memory was of an old German lady who clutched my dad’s hand and talked for nearly an hour because she had no one to talk to, no one who wanted to listen to what she had to say and we listened to her every word.
At the end of it, I remember my dad asking her if she wanted anything and she said, “You listened. That’s the best Christmas gift I could get.”
What makes Jesus special to me is that He’s always listened to me. In my worst moments, He has given me hope and love. When my father was critically ill, I prayed to Jesus and asked him to heal. The morning that my dad was scheduled to undergo a medical examination, a priest came to my father and blessed him and said that Jesus will be with him. The priest did not know my father but he prayed for my father with a lot of love. I believe it happened because Jesus heard my prayer.
Throughout my difficulties and happy moments in life, Jesus has held me close to him. I have felt His presence nearly everywhere. When you love someone a lot, you are bound to see that person or feel that person’s presence everywhere. Many people call that madness. I call it – love.
Does Believing in Christ Require Conversion?
Years ago, nuns in Kerala told me to convert to Christianity, and it shocked me. I told them that I am proud of being a Hindu. I am proud of loving Christ too because my religion gives me the freedom to pursue my beliefs. I will not convert or change to become just another statistic for any organized religion. It doesn’t require conversion for me to have a heart-to-heart connection with Jesus. I don’t need the Church or even the Bible to do that. I just need to be open to Christ consciousness.
What does Christ Represent to mankind in the Coming Years?
To me, Jesus Christ is one of the many reminders of God’s love for me and the world. The life and message of Jesus is pristine and relevant to the world today, to our children who need to feel the need to care and love others without losing their innocence.
I believe the Bible when it states that God so loved the world and every living being on earth that he parted with his Divine Son and gave Him away to us so that we could learn how to love and forgive without conditions.
What is Christmas truly about?
Christmas heralds the arrival of Jesus and his teachings in our thoughts and lives. By giving gifts without expecting anything in return, we spread love in our thoughts and actions and to the people around us. Is there a better way to celebrate the birth of Jesus? Yes, there is.
By continuing this practice of love to each and every one we meet in life, every day and not just for Christmas, we can all sync in with the spirit of Christ consciousness.
The question is: Are You Ready for It?
great one chech..
Fantastic post…
conveys the true sentiment of Christmas in the purest way.
Thanks very much, Ankit!
Excellent Post Swapna. I really agree with you. It’s the belief in God and his teachings that are important. What religion one believes in is irrelevant.
What are your views about the the thousands of gurus that have lakhs of devotees spread all across the globe. They all claim to be sent by god to teach us humans about the basic values.
@Neena Good to see you active on this site
I believe that “religion” as it is defined today is totally against the concept of God. Religion has become something that divides us, rather than uniting us.
Thanks Reynold!
Hey Neena, It was interesting to read your thoughts about the post and thanks for that! I think the question about gurus is relevant and interesting, particularly because all my beliefs have more to do with contemplating on God as Love than as a subject of any religion. I think it calls for a new post because the scope of your question calls for it. I hope to write on it soon and get your thoughts too. Thanks, once again!
I don’t need the Church or even the Bible to do that. I just need to be open to Christ consciousness.
-This is wrong!
Jesus said in John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
May God Bless all of you here in the Name of our Lord Jeus Christ. There is only one way to the Father in Heaven and it’s through his Son Jesus Christ. We all must accept his sacrifice on the cross and accept him into our hearts. God wants a relationship with us through Jesus. We must follow the teachings of the Bible. There is no other name that we can be saved but by the name of Jesus.
